Job summary

City of Virginia Beach is seeking an Engineer II or III in the Transportation Division to manage and engineer transportation projects. You will participate in planning, design, and construction support for roadways, intersections, signals, bridges, sidewalks, and stormwater aspects.

Ideal candidates will have a background in roadway design and project management, with experience in cost estimating, scheduling, and contract administration. The role offers a competitive pay range and full benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field with EIT and two years of progressive professional experience.
• Preferred candidates may have a PE license and five years of progressive professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in project development including planning, design, engineering, and construction support.
• Review project plans, studies, and cost estimates for infrastructure projects.
• Apply project management techniques to meet scope, schedule, and budget.
• Manage projects from inception through construction completion.
• Prepare reports and maintain document records.
• Assist in bid and contract management for design and construction.
