Job summary

New England Jewish Academy in West Hartford, CT is seeking Long-Term Substitute Teachers for the Early Childhood Center (Preschool) and Lower School (Grades K–5). We seek caring, patient, and enthusiastic educators to support continuity of learning.

Responsibilities include providing instruction, following lesson plans, fostering a safe classroom, and collaborating with staff to support student growth. On-site, Monday–Friday during the academic year, with compensation starting at $20 per hour

Qualifications

• Experience in early childhood or elementary education preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Patient, nurturing approach to working with children.
• Flexibility and reliability to adapt to different classrooms.
• Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and coverage in ECC and/or Lower School as needed.
• Follow lesson plans and routines, adapting activities to student needs.
• Maintain a safe, supportive classroom environment.
• Foster positive relationships to support academic, social, and emotional growth.
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to ensure continuity of instruction.
