Job summary

Greenwich Public Schools seeks a full-time Special Education Teacher for the K-5 Unique Learners Program. The teacher will provide targeted instruction for students with disabilities using CT Alternative Assessment Standards and design instruction to address reading, writing, and mathematics.

Responsibilities include collecting data for individual students, participating in the Planning and Placement Team (PPT), developing annual IEPs with Present Levels, goals, and objectives, and applying

Qualifications

• Current CT Special Education Teacher certification, or certifiability, is required (e.g., #065)
• Experience is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of special education

Responsibilities

• Collect data and evaluations for individual students using a variety of assessment methods
• Participate as a member of the Planning and Placement Team (PPT)
• Develop and implement an annual Individualized Education Program (IEP) in developing the Present Levels of Educational Performance, appropriate goals, and objectives
• Employ various teaching strategies, methods, and principles of learning to assist students in achieving their IEP goals and behavior management needs
• Effectively manage the classroom and student behavior
• Collaborate and consult with educational professionals and community service providers
