Job summary

Northside Center for Child Development in New York City is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to design and deliver individualized learning plans for students with special needs.

You will collaborate with parents, fellow educators, and a multidisciplinary team to support early childhood students, implement IEPs, monitor progress, and maintain confidentiality while fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• NYS Certification in Special Education required.
• Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s needs.
• Deliver instruction in whole-class, small-group, and 1:1 settings.
• Monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
• Maintain consistent communication with parents and professionals.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to create an optimal learning environment.
• Supervise and train classroom assistants and aides.
• Assist in researching and recommending transition programs for students leaving the school.
