Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or other level of education meeting state and federal mandates.
• Reading, oral and written language and math skills.
• Interpersonal skills to work with students and adults.
• Computer proficiency and ability to use office machines (Library Media Center).
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role.
• Prior experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or groups in various settings.
• Carry out instructional activities as designed by a certified staff member.
• Maintain and record data on student progress and achievement as assigned.
• Assist students in following class and school rules and routines.
• Monitor individual or group testing.
• Assist the teacher in developing strategies and modifications.
• Assist with attendance, scheduling, money or supply collections, setup and meals or snacks.
• Supervise testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacher.
• Score tests and correct papers based on answer keys.
• Assist with setup and use of instructional media, equipment and supplies.
• Prepare materials and supplies to support the program.
• Inform the teacher of observations made concerning students.
• Help ensure students' personal safety and well-being.
• Serve as a source of information for substitute staff.
• Communicate with staff as needed.
• Assist in general supervision of students and follow duties by principal.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Attend and participate in staff development programs.
