Job summary

Acadia Middle School in the Shenendehowa Central School District is seeking a Special Education Teacher Aide. The role supports teachers and students with social/emotional and learning needs across all school settings, under teacher direction.

The position offers hourly steps from $22.14 to $24.82 under the CSEA agreement, with 6.5 hours per day, 10 months per year. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and experience with youth; start date in November 2026.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; experience with youth desirable.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
• Exhibit good judgement, mental alertness, tact and courtesy.
• Experience with students with developmental disabilities and autism preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to teachers in non-teaching tasks to support students with social/emotional and learning needs.
• Monitor students, manage records, materials and equipment, and collect student data.
• Implement modifications and accommodations such as behavior plans and testing accommodations.
• Model appropriate social skills and facilitate social interaction; assist with classroom work.
• Attend to student physical needs, including equipment, mobility, and toileting as needed.
