Job summary

Rainier School District is seeking a dedicated High/Middle School Special Education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The role provides individualized instruction in a Resource Room while integrating with general education settings; caseload may include middle school students.

You will develop and monitor IEP goals, coordinate with specialists, and implement evidence-based practices to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in a collaborative district environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.
• Special Education Endorsement.
• Preferred experience teaching special education at both middle and high school levels; secondary transition planning, curriculum adaptation, and behavior management.
• Successful completion of WSP/FBI background check and fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

• Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
• Collaborate with administrators, staff, students, and parents; participate in multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide specialized instruction in a Resource Room, supporting general education access and managing IEPs and transition plans.
• Conduct evaluations and achievement testing.
• Utilize assistive technology in individual education programs.
• Coordinate with speech-language pathologists, occupational/physical therapists, and school psychologists.
• Maintain accurate records including grades, progress reports, and IEP documentation.
• Attend staff and PLC meetings and participate in PBIS activities.
