Job summary

CommuniCare Rehab, a member of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, has a Full Time opportunity for a Speech Language Pathologist at Charleston Healthcare Center in Charleston, WV. You will join our in-house therapy team and work to improve residents’ communication, swallowing, and cognitive skills.

Responsibilities include assessing charts, developing treatment plans, instructing families and caregivers, and collaborating with the rehab team.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Valid state SLP license or license pending.
• Experience with evaluating, planning, and implementing speech therapy programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, review, and screen residents’ medical charts and develop a treatment plan.
• Plan, direct, or conduct rehabilitative treatment programs to improve communication, swallowing, and cognitive skills.
• Instruct residents, families, and caregivers on practice techniques and safe swallowing; provide diet modifications when needed.
• Attend or lead interdisciplinary meetings to relay clinical findings and recommendations; participate in family education.
