Job summary

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School in Houston, TX seeks a faith-filled Second Grade Teacher to form students spiritually and academically, integrating Catholic values across the curriculum and preparing them for First Holy Communion in collaboration with families and parish.

The teacher will plan TEKS-aligned lessons, differentiate instruction, foster critical thinking, and maintain a positive classroom while partnering with parents, clergy, and staff to uphold the school's mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid Texas teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
• Knowledge of elementary instructional best practices and child development.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to support and uphold the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
• Catechist Certification preferable.
• Experience teaching in a Catholic school setting.
• Experience supporting students in sacramental preparation, particularly First Holy Communion.
• Familiarity with Classical Education and student-centered instructional practices.

• Integrate Catholic teachings and Gospel values throughout the curriculum.
• Lead students in daily prayer and participate in liturgies and religious celebrations.
• Support students in spiritual growth and sacramental preparation.
• Collaborate with parents, clergy, and school leadership regarding sacramental activities.
• Uphold the mission, philosophy, and policies of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School and the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
• Plan and implement TEKS-aligned lessons and activities.
• Differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Utilize assessments to monitor progress and guide instruction.
• Foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.
