Job summary

South Burlington School District is seeking a Substitute School Nurse registered nurse (BSN/RN) to provide health services at the district-assigned school in Vermont. The nurse will assess student health needs, administer medications, develop health plans, and maintain student health records in accordance with state laws and district policies.

The role requires a Vermont RN license, CPR/AED/First Aid, and experience in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nursing from NLN or CCNE accredited programs.
• Vermont RN license currently active.
• CPR, AED and First Aid certifications current.
• Four years of clinical nursing experience beyond nursing education.
• Valid Vermont Teaching License with school nurse endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Assess student health needs and develop health plans for students.
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and school policy.
• Maintain health records and required health screenings for students.
• Provide health education and counseling to students, families and staff.
• Collaborate with administrators and educators on IEPs and student health requirements.
