Job summary

Deep Roots Charter School is seeking a Behavior Specialist to support a structured and inclusive school culture. You will implement behavior support plans, conduct functional assessments, and collaborate with teachers, families, and external providers to ensure safe, supportive learning for all students.

The role emphasizes equity, data-driven planning, and restorative practices. You will respond to crises, coach staff on classroom management, and participate in IEP and multidisciplinary teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field is required.
• Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS) or BCBA certification (or eligibility) is required.
• Experience conducting FBAs, PBSPs or BIPs and supporting students with behavioral disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive behavioral support to students across classrooms and school settings.
• Conduct FBAs for students requiring individualized behavioral supports.
• Develop, implement, and monitor PBSPs and BIPs for students, including those with IEPs.
• Support students in developing self-regulation, conflict resolution, coping, and social-emotional skills.
• Facilitate restorative conversations and problem-solving with students.
• Respond to behavior incidents and crises with de-escalation strategies.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students while maintaining high expectations.
• Monitor progress toward behavioral IEP goals and adjust interventions based on data.
