Job summary

Waco Family Medicine seeks a part-time School-Based Dental Hygienist to deliver preventive and educational oral health services to pediatric populations within school settings in Waco, TX. You will collaborate with dentists, school staff, families, and care teams to provide patient-centered care, perform screenings and cleanings, sealants, and radiographs, and coordinate referrals.

This role requires strong communication, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work in non-traditional settings

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree in dental hygiene.
• Current state licensure as a RDH.
• Local anesthesia certification (if applicable per state law).
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Experience in public health, school-based care, or community dental programs.
• Experience working in an FQHC or underserved populations.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish or other prevalent language).

Responsibilities

• Provide preventive dental services in school-based settings (assessments, cleanings, varnish, sealants, radiographs).
• Identify urgent needs and facilitate referrals to the FQHC dental clinic.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the EHR.
• Collaborate with dentists and care teams to develop treatment plans and follow-up care.
• Coordinate referrals for restorative or specialty care.
• Deliver oral health education to students, parents, and school staff.
• Support mobile/portable dental unit setup and inventory management.
