Job summary

Gardner Public Schools is seeking a School Adjustment Counselor on a long-term substitute basis. The role requires Massachusetts Certification as a School Adjustment Counselor and a Master’s Degree in counseling or a related field.

The SAC will provide social, emotional, and therapeutic support, lead a comprehensive school counseling program, and work with families and staff to promote student success. The position reports to the Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Principals, with duties

Qualifications

• Massachusetts Certificate as School Adjustment Counselor
• Master’s Degree in counseling or appropriate field

Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate records and uses data to develop, implement, and evaluate the school counseling program
• Provides classroom lessons and individual/group counseling with at least 60% of time devoted to direct counseling
• Collaborates with PBIS, CBT, and Trauma-Informed Care to support student outcomes
• Offers classroom consultation and in-service to teachers and administrators on evidence-based approaches
• Coordinates trainings on topics such as bullying, substance use prevention, and suicide prevention
• Participates in transitions for students re-entering after hospitalization and provides transitional counseling
