Job summary

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region in Pueblo, Colorado is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our shelter medicine program. You will deliver advanced patient care, support surgical procedures, mentor teammates, and help animals move toward adoption or placement.

As a certified RVT, you will lead clinical support, manage records, and collaborate with veterinarians and staff to ensure lifesaving outcomes for vulnerable animals in a fast-paced, mission-driven

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited institution.
• Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license.
• One year of experience in a full-service veterinary hospital or animal shelter, or completion of a veterinary technician internship.
• Valid Colorado driver's license with insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Performing blood draws, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, nursing care, and surgical preparation.
• Assisting veterinarians during examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures.
• Administering medications and anesthesia under veterinary direction.
• Calculating drug dosages and fluid rates accurately.
• Performing in-house laboratory testing and radiographs.
• Monitoring hospitalized patients and ensuring follow-up care.
• Maintaining accurate and detailed medical records.
• Training, mentoring, and supporting veterinary assistants, externs, and volunteers.
• Supporting vaccination and treatment protocols.
• Leading by example in patient care and safety.
