Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse to coordinate interdisciplinary patient care using the nursing process and evidence-based practices. The RN leads, mentors and delegates within a dynamic oncology/medical environment, focusing on safe, holistic patient care and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities include triage, medication safety, patient education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) – Kansas or compact license
• ADN required; BSN must be completed within five years of hire
• CPR/BLS certification required or within 14 days of start

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital policies related to medication safety, including order writing format, correct administration considerations, double checks and other established policies and practices.
• Answers patient/significant others phone calls, triage patient care.
• Anticipates and intervenes in a timely manner for patient and staff safety concerns.
• Consistently meets work schedule.
• Coordinates health care services with hospital, vendors, physician's offices and other institutions.
• Delegates appropriately and serves as a mentor and leader.
• Develops, implements and evaluates plan of care that adapts to changes in patient condition.
• Performs comprehensive nursing assessments and triage of care needs; provides direct nursing care including chemotherapy, blood components, fluids and electrolytes.
• Provides patient/family education using available resources.
• Pursues unit-specific certifications and collaborates with multidisciplinary team.
• Utilizes technology for patient care delivery and compliance with policies/procedures.
• Maintains professional, clinical and technical competencies for the assigned unit.

High School Diploma

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

BSN required by fifth anniversary of hire
