Job summary

Youth Villages offers paid internship opportunities for bachelor’s and master’s students across select residential and community-based programs. The Recreation Therapy Intern works under the supervision of a NCTRC certified staff member, shadows recreation therapists, and helps facilitate group sessions with youth.

Responsibilities include participating in treatment planning, documenting in an EMR, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Therapeutic Recreation (required).
• Experience with children or adolescents (required).
• All applicants must meet education requirements for Therapeutic Recreation programs.

Responsibilities

• Works under supervision of a NCTRC-certified staff member.
• Shadows recreation therapists and interacts with youth from multiple programs.
• Facilitates group sessions typically 1–2.5 hours, ~3 times per week.
• Participates in treatment planning and sets/implements recreational goals.
• Completes accurate EMR documentation and performs other duties as assigned.
