Job summary

The City of Lafayette is seeking a hands-on Associate Civil Engineer to design, manage, and inspect capital improvement projects in our Engineering and Public Works Department. You will present plans to the public and officials, coordinating with contractors and city leaders to deliver safe, resilient infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has a PE license with 5+ years of CIP experience, proficient AutoCAD skills, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Civil Engineer with 5+ years of CIP design/inspection experience.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for public meetings and officials.
• Ability to coordinate with city staff, contractors and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and inspect complex civil engineering construction projects.
• Review plans for compliance with City, State, Federal standards for public works infrastructure.
• Provide construction administration, public relations, management and inspection of projects.
• Present staff reports to commissions and City Council.
• Coordinate meetings and assist in required reports to ensure permit compliance.
