Job summary

Sharing Excess in New York is seeking a warehouse associate to support produce sorting and packing at our Wholesale Produce Market. The role runs 9:00 am–2:00 pm on weekdays, and you will work closely with a small team in a temperature-controlled environment.

You will inspect produce, weigh donations, maintain records, and help train volunteers. The position emphasizes reliability, safety, and teamwork as we reduce food waste and support community partners.

Qualifications

• Availability 9 am - 2 pm, Mon-Fri (varies by market)
• Personal vehicle or reliable transportation (warehouse in industrial area)
• Physical: stand up to 7 hours, lift up to 50 pounds, bends/reaches, and work in cooler environment

Responsibilities

• Inspect produce and sort edible vs non-edible ( bruising, mold, punctures )
• Set up, break down, and maintain sorting area
• Weigh donations with pallet scale
• Maintain records of donations and distributions
• Supervise/train on-site volunteer sorters when applicable
• Pack produce in boxes for distribution
• Move pallets with power jack
• Coordinate movement from sorting area to loading dock/external vehicles
• Maintain a safe, clean warehouse environment
• Build mixed pallets for partner pickups/deliveries
