Job summary

State of Iowa is seeking a Probation/Parole Officer 2 to play a key role in preparing clients for successful reentry into society. You will engage with clients in high-contact settings, support pro-social behaviors, and work in a multidisciplinary team to monitor progress while documenting caseloads in ICON.

The role emphasizes integrity, ethical conduct, and precise record-keeping, with training in motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral strategies to foster lasting behavioral change.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in any field.
• Four years of education and/or full-time experience in a human services or criminal justice field, with college coursework as credit.
• 18 months of full-time Probation/Parole Officer 1 experience within the State executive branch.

Responsibilities

• Supervise individuals under court-ordered probation, pretrial release, parole, or related statuses.
• Document caseload information into the ICON system per performance standards.
• Apply behavior-change techniques (motivational interviewing, CBT) to support client progress and reduce risk of reoffending.
• Engage in multidisciplinary teamwork to observe, assess, and support pro-social behaviors.
