Job summary

YMCA of Greater Brandywine is seeking a part-time personal trainer at the Oscar Lasko YMCA in West Chester, PA. You will conduct personal training sessions and fitness assessments, ensuring safe, enthusiastic, and professional guidance for members.

Responsibilities include client communication, screening, on-time attendance, proper technique, and maintaining equipment. This role emphasizes health promotion and program participation within a supportive community environment.

Qualifications

• Possesses and maintains a personal training certification. Must be on the current list shown on the NCCA/ICE website
• Knowledge of basic and advanced exercise principles required
• Strong interest in health and fitness; working towards a bachelor's degree in exercise science or health-related preferred
• Obtain and maintain all additional new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Conduct personal training sessions and fitness assessments as scheduled and provide assistance in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous, and professional manner.
• Communicate with current and potential personal training clients in a timely fashion.
• Follow YMCA of Greater Brandywine guidelines for screening personal training clients.
• Report to scheduled sessions on time and be available to provide assistance.
• Ensure that proper exercise techniques are utilized by all members.
• Report any mechanical or equipment issues to supervisor and document on maintenance logbook.
• Encourage members to wipe down equipment and benches after use during orientation and training sessions as well as general use.
• Solicit members to participate in personal training program.
• Promote a healthy lifestyle.
• Understand, follow and enforce all policies and SOPs.
• Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year.
• Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
