Job summary

Indian Health Service seeks an optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care to patients in Native communities. You will examine, diagnose, and treat ocular diseases and disorders, including emergencies, in outpatient and inpatient settings.

Requirements include U.S. citizenship, NBEO exams, a current OD license, and completion of an ACOE-accredited program. You will collaborate with medical staff to deliver high‑quality vision care and patient education.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry degree from an ACOE-accredited program.
• Pass the NBEO examinations and hold a current, full, unrestricted OD license in a U.S. state/territory.
• U.S. Citizenship is required and compliance with licensure/privileges is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Perform the full range of professional optometric duties, including examinations, diagnoses, and treatment of diseases of the eye and visual system.
• Provide comprehensive primary eye care, including emergency ocular care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye diseases and conditions, and manage patient care with appropriate referrals.
