Job summary

Springbrook is seeking a Nutrition Services Assistant to help prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks in a supportive kitchen environment. You will work closely with the Cook to ensure meals meet individual dietary needs, are served safely, on time, and with care.

This hands-on role requires teamwork, adherence to menus and safety procedures, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds as part of daily tasks. A flexible schedule and basic computer skills are needed to operate agency systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in food service is helpful but not required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Must meet agency requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles when driving is part of the position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious, appealing meals and snacks according to menus and dietary needs.
• Follow approved menus, recipes, portion sizes, and meal plans; substitutions only as authorized.
• Ensure meals are served on time and at the proper temperature with good presentation.
• Complete food prep and other tasks to ensure supplies are ready for the next day.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, infection control, and agency procedures.
• Keep kitchen, storage, and work areas clean, organized, safe, hazard-free.
• Complete cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, garbage removal, and ware-washing.
• Safely operate kitchen equipment and report equipment concerns to the Chef Manager.
• Use required PPE and follow safety procedures.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and moving food supplies and equipment as needed.
• Support orientation and training of new employees when assigned.
• Work cooperatively with the kitchen team and treat everyone with respect and courtesy.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef Manager.
