Job summary

Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a confidential nonprofit organization in the Texarkana area to hire an experienced Staff Accountant. The role focuses on owning day-to-day accounting, accurate financial reporting, and journal entry preparation in a nonprofit setting.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and at least 2 years of accounting experience, including journal entries, with strong Excel and accounting software skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience.
• Strong background in preparing journal entries is REQUIRED.
• Experience with general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies in financial records.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily accounting functions and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare complex journal entries and ensure proper supporting documentation is maintained.
• Review and reconcile ledger activity to identify and correct discrepancies.
• Assist with monthly financial close processes and reporting deadlines.
• Analyze account activity and maintain accuracy across financial data.
• Support preparation of internal financial reports and audit documentation.
• Monitor cash activity and assist with tracking organizational expenditures.
• Process and review accounting transactions for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist leadership with budget tracking and financial analysis.
• Maintain organized accounting files and supporting records.
• Collaborate with internal departments regarding financial questions and reporting needs.
• Ensure accounting practices remain compliant with organizational standards and accounting guidelines.
