Boston Collegiate Charter School in Dorchester seeks an analytical, engaging Middle School Substantially Separate Student Support Teacher to join our team and support students with substantial separation needs. The role reports to the Chief Student Support Officer and contributes to our college-prep mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or in the subject area required.
• Minimum of two years’ teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting (preferred).
• Must have passed MTEL for Moderate/Severe Disability and SEI endorsement or be willing to work toward certification.
• Knowledge of child/adolescent development and leading a diverse group of students in academic/non-academic settings.
• Ability to discuss diversity, equity, and inclusion and reflect on how identity impacts work.

Responsibilities

• Be on-campus from 7:30-4:30 p.m. daily.
• Plan for, grade for, and teach 4-5 periods daily (4 content-based, 1 intervention-based).
• Take responsibility for students outside the classroom commensurate with the position.
• Attend weekly meetings and professional development; receive coaching.
• Commit to anti-racist work and restorative justice approaches to building relationships.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
• Use data regularly to drive organizational decisions.
• Receive feedback to pursue continuous improvement.
• Hold students accountable to academic and behavioral expectations.
• Contribute to school and position-based teams.
• Grow as educators with high expectations for rigor, relationships, and relevance.
