Job summary

Woodlawn Middle School is seeking a Computer Science Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. You will deliver rigorous CS instruction and work with the STEM team to shape a cohesive 6–8 curriculum.

The role requires a valid IL educator license, at least 2 years of urban teaching experience, and a commitment to equity and professional growth. Starting Aug 1, 2026, salary ranges from $55,000 to $70,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Illinois Professional Educator License with endorsement.
• At least 2 years of urban teaching experience.
• Experience teaching students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to curriculum and assessment planning and professional development.
• Ability to collaborate with administrators, staff, students, parents, and community partners.
• Ability to communicate clearly with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned computer science instruction that develops students’ digital literacy and critical thinking, ensuring access for all learners.
• Collaborate with STEM Department to maintain a cohesive 6-8 CS curriculum.
• Build a classroom culture with high expectations, student ownership, and inclusive learning environment.
• Use data and assessments to plan differentiated lessons and accelerate growth for diverse learners.
• Engage in ongoing professional growth and contribute to campus as a PD site for teachers and leaders.
• Demonstrate passion for deep knowledge of computers and computing.
• Other duties as assigned.
