Job summary

City of Hope seeks a Medical Technologist to perform routine and complex lab tests with timely reporting to support patient care. The role includes equipment maintenance, quality control, and potential on-call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum education includes a Bachelor’s in Medical Lab Science or related field, plus an Associate in Medical Lab Technology with HEW. Certification (ASCP or AMT) or eligibility required within 18 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Lab Science, Biological Sciences or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Associates Degree in Medical Lab Technology with HEW certification.
• Certification required (ASCP or AMT) or eligible to take exam. Must successfully complete certification (ASCP or AMT) within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests and report results within the expected turnaround time.
• Carry out equipment maintenance, calibration and quality control testing per departmental procedures.
• Sign up for on-call shifts and provide coverage for other shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Handle specimen transport, processing for in-house and send-out testing for reference laboratories, and respond to telephone inquiries.
