Job summary

ReNEW Schools in Merrillville, Indiana seeks a Long Term Substitute to cover classrooms from late October through December. Responsibilities include administering assessments, planning lessons per Indiana guidelines, coordinating with special education staff, and communicating with families.

Qualifications

• Valid State of Indiana teaching license for the applicable grade level and subject.
• Ability to administer and interpret running records.
• Knowledge of science of reading framework.
• Willingness to collaborate with an Academic coach on evidence-based practices.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Learn, develop, and implement strategies and lessons.
• Implement science of reading strategies and integrate technology.
• Maintain positive relationships with students and manage classroom behavior.
• Plan assessments and use data to drive instructional decisions.
• Coordinate with Special Education and ELL staff for accommodations written in IEP/504/ILP.
• Establish parent communication through email, calls, or notes.
