Job summary

Community Legal Services (CLS) in Orlando seeks a Litigation Paralegal to support the Director of Litigation and attorneys on high-impact matters. You will handle client intake, case investigation, pleadings, discovery, research, and trial preparation within CLS guidelines and Florida ethical standards.

Starting salary is $50,000, with potential increases based on experience. This role demands strong organizational, communication, and writing skills, and requires travel across a 12-county

Qualifications

• Legal Studies Education and/or Paralegal certification.
• FRP in good standing with the Florida bar.
• Law firm experience (2+ years) supporting litigation preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Excellent phone and in-person customer service with strong communication and writing skills.
• MS Office proficiency required.
• Valid Florida license, own vehicle with valid insurance for travel.
• Ability to travel and work some weekends/evenings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client intakes, determine eligibility, and gather case information.
• Interview clients and witnesses, investigate facts, collect evidence, and prepare reports.
• Maintain regular client communication under attorney supervision.
• Assist in pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial exhibits.
• Perform legal research using databases and summarize findings.
• Coordinate service of process, affidavits, and filing with courts.
• Organize case files, calendars, and deadlines.
• Represent clients at administrative hearings within non-attorney guidelines.
• Support CLS Advocacy Plan and trial teams when needed.
• Maintain electronic case records and grant-related documentation.
• Collaborate with supervising attorneys on assigned cases and co-counsel matters.
• Participate in training to enhance litigation skills and knowledge.
• Engage in outreach to educate clients and stakeholders about CLS litigation work.
• Build relationships with community partners to support advocacy.
• Attend public forums, media engagements, and community events as directed.
• Develop materials for strategic planning and policy advocacy.
