Maricopa County seeks a Mitigation Specialist to support the Juvenile Delinquency defense team by working with youth, attorneys, and investigators to develop mitigation/sentencing plans.

The role emphasizes studying life experiences, providing resources, and maintaining strong advocacy for better life outcomes for juveniles in the delinquency system. Hybrid/alternative schedules are available, supporting work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Two years of paid casework experience in criminal justice, social service or court agency.
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral or Social Science, or related field.
• Combination of education and experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Interview clients/families to assess needs and support sentencing plans.
• Conduct assessments, attend case staffings, and provide input on treatment and disposition.
• Make referrals for follow-up and intervention; prepare reports for attorneys/court.
