Qualifications

• Successful completion of at least 48 semester hours of college from an accredited college or university or a passing score on the Para-Professional Assessment Exam.
• Possess strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to learn to operate and maintain a wide variety of instructional equipment
• Possess the personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, and parents
• Possess an interest and ability in working with special education students
• Dependability and punctuality required

Responsibilities

• Assists classroom teacher with instructional activities; reinforces material with individuals or small groups.
• Maintains student records and assists with grading and recording grades under teacher supervision.
• Maintains contact with parents, administrators and teachers.
• Performs clerical duties including typing, copying and collating.
• Assists with lunch, bus and other routines; supports in-service training as assigned.
