Job summary

Licking Memorial Health Systems (LMHS) is seeking a Billing Clerk to efficiently manage patient accounts, ensure accurate billing, and coordinate with insurers. This role supports our mission to deliver high-quality care to the Newark community.

You will bill accounts, enter data, follow up on claims, balance remittances, and assist with charity care applications. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential, along with nine months of healthcare billing experience.

Qualifications

• Nine months of experience in healthcare billing/collections.
• Ability to read, write and follow directions.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills.
• Accurate data entry and basic reporting.

Responsibilities

• Bill patient accounts, timely and accurate.
• Enter accurate billing information and prepare accurate paper or electronic claims.
• Correct claims and determine billing status.
• Perform timely follow-up of patient accounts.
• Prepare accurate reports of billing activity.
• Contact insurance carriers to expedite accurate payment of claims.
• Review remittances to ensure proper and accurate payments.
• Balance cash / checks.
• Review and resolve credit balance accounts.
• Complete applications for applicable Health Systems charity care programs.
• Perform other duties as requested.
