Job summary

The City of St. Cloud, FL is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator for the Solid Waste Division. You will operate front loaders and other heavy equipment, manage the active tipping floor and C&D pile, and coordinate traffic to keep operations safe and efficient.

Responsibilities include equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and supporting daily opening and closing procedures. A valid FL class A license and several certifications are required within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED plus three years of experience required.
• Must obtain and maintain Transfer Station Operators and Materials Recovery Facilities Cert within 6 months.
• Must have valid Florida Class A driver’s license with no restrictions and related certifications within 330 days.

Responsibilities

• Operate active tipping floor operations and C&D piles with heavy equipment.
• Direct vehicular traffic to maintain smooth flow and safety.
• Perform daily equipment inspection and routine maintenance.
• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas.
• Assist in opening daily operations and shift transitions.
