Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide evaluation and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies at UAB St. Vincent's East in Birmingham, AL. The role includes selecting treatment plans and monitoring patient progress with advanced modalities.

The position requires BLS within 30 days, Alabama RT licensure, and NBRC certification, with responsibilities spanning patient education, equipment upkeep, and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Licensed Respiratory Therapist credential from Alabama Board required.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist credential from NBRC required.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
• Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment; monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
• Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
• Educate the patient and family about health conditions and community resources.
• Assist with care, calibration and maintenance of equipment and inventory; support sterilization procedures.
• Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls.
