Job summary

Smithsonian Institution is seeking a Financial Analyst (IS-0501-9/11) in Cambridge, MA. The role provides comprehensive financial support, including analysis and reporting across federal, trust, and sponsored programs, with a focus on internal controls and audit readiness.

The position is full-time at SAO’s Budget and Financial Analysis Services, offering career ladder potential and advancement to grade 11 based on performance and supervisory recommendations.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the Grade 07 level.
• Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or completion of all requirements for an LL.M degree from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of Experience and Education can meet the qualification standards.

Responsibilities

• Supports financial analysis and reporting for various institutional funding sources including federal appropriation, trust funds, direct and indirect activities related to federally sponsored and foundation awards.
• Assists in design and development of new financial reports and layout improvements, performing reconciliations and supporting year-end close-out processes.
• Provides guidance on financial policies and procedures, inter alios, and supports internal/external audit requests.
