Job summary

Family Health Care Centers of Greater Los Angeles is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Family Medicine department. You will provide patient care under physician supervision, perform exams, order diagnostics, develop treatment plans, and counsel patients and families.

Responsibilities include documenting in medical records, communicating with supervising physicians, and ensuring compliance with California practice rules.

Qualifications

• Must complete an NCCFNP-approved Family Nurse Practitioner training program.
• Must hold a current FNP license issued by the Medical Board of California and Physician Assistant Examining Committee.
• Must possess or be eligible for furnishing number.
• Previous clinical experience in adult and pediatric assessment and treatment preferred.
• Willingness to work with a broad spectrum of patients and community programs.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills; able to work in a fast paced, team environment.
• Spanish language skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with California rules governing FNP practice with physician supervision.
• Gather patient history, perform exams, review records, and initiate treatment plans with supervising physician review.
• Order initial diagnostic studies and refer to supervising physician as needed.
• Perform medical procedures and treatments within the supervising physician's delegated scope.
• Counsel patients and families and involve them in informed decision making.
• In emergencies without a physician present, initiate evaluation and emergency treatment and notify the supervising physician.
• Identify as a Family Nurse Practitioner and wear proper identification at all times.
• Carry out prescription drug or device orders in accordance with regulations.
• Other duties as delegated by the physician and clinic needs.
• All other duties as assigned.
