Job summary

Jewish Federation of Detroit is seeking an Events and Special Projects Associate to support planning, coordination and execution of events and experiential programs. You will work under the Associate Director, Events and Special Projects, partnering with staff, lay leaders and vendors to deliver high‑impact experiences that strengthen engagement with the Federation.

The role involves managing timelines, coordinating sites and vendors, tracking budgets, and ensuring seamless on-site execution

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills with a proven ability to interact effectively with professional staff.
  • Positive attitude that inspires confidence and action.
  • Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends each month (flex time offered).
  • Detail oriented, effective time manager with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a demanding work environment.
  • Event Planning experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture and the Jewish community preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in event development and program planning, including timelines, logistics, and planning documents.
  • Provide on-site logistical support for Federation events, vendor coordination, staffing, and day-of troubleshooting.
  • Track and manage event budgets and expenses, review invoices, and process payments.
  • Coordinate with department leads on insurance, marketing, scheduling and cross‑department planning.
  • Research and set up event vendors and planning resources, maintain vendor database.
  • Support marketing with event branding, signage, invitations and communications.
  • Build relationships with volunteers and community leaders to boost engagement.
  • Participate in Federation’s Annual Campaign activities as needed.
  • Complete other special projects and duties as assigned.
