Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience with children and youth preferred.
• Bilingual candidates preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret basic instructions and write reports.
• Ability to apply general mathematical concepts to practical situations.
• Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist with devising strategies based on individual needs and abilities.
• Operate and care for classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
• Help students master equipment or materials assigned by the teacher.
• Guide independent study and remedial work as set by the teacher.
• Read to students, listen to reading, and participate in oral activities.
• Assist with supervision during drills, assemblies, field trips, and lunch periods.
• Assist with large group activities such as reading aloud and storytelling.
• Support students in library or media center as appropriate.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise tests and make-up work.
