Job summary

Indianapolis Public Schools is seeking an experienced Middle School English/Language Arts Teacher to guide 5–8 grade students. You will teach ELA using district resources, align lessons to Indiana standards, and apply the Science of Reading to improve literacy and critical thinking.

This is a full-time, 10-month position reporting to the Principal. You will create engaging lessons, assess progress, analyze data, and collaborate with educators to advance equity and student achievement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
• Licensure in English/Language Arts for grades 5-8.
• Ability to align instruction with Indiana standards and the Science of Reading.

Responsibilities

• Provide ELA instruction aligned to Indiana Standards and the Science of Reading.
• Develop daily lesson plans and assessments to measure progress.
• Analyze data to inform instructional decisions and improve literacy outcomes.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment and manage student behavior.
• Grade papers and maintain accurate grade books.
