Job summary

Rockford Public School District 205 is looking for an Educational Interpreter to assist deaf and hard of hearing students in communication with peers and teachers. This role involves providing interpreting services in mainstream classes and during extracurricular activities, as well as participation in Individualized Educational Plan meetings to support student learning.

The position requires strong skills in American Sign Language and a preference for an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree along with ISBE certification. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Must meet ISBE certification requirements.
• Ability to interpret and transliterate at a normal conversation rate.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication among deaf and hard of hearing students.
• Provide interpreting for educational programs and extracurricular activities.
• Participate in IEP meetings and provide tutoring when needed.
