Job summary

Catholic Charities seeks a BS/BA-qualified teacher to implement curricular goals and ensure child safety and school readiness in a CT classroom. The teacher reports to the director and collaborates with staff to support families and children.

The position emphasizes supervisory duties, permitted lesson planning, and regular documentation of progress, while adhering to NAEYC, state, local, and agency policies. Employment is on a part-time hourly basis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in ECE/Child Development with 360+ hours of supervised preschool experience and at least one student teaching semester.
• AA in ECE/Child Development with 540+ hours of supervised preschool experience and ongoing progress toward a BA.
• Must have the personal qualities to care for children and relate to staff and parents.
• Demonstrated management competencies: communication, multitasking, planning, motivation, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide guidance to children and assistant teachers.
• Complete observations and assessments of children’s progress.
• Maintain regular parent communication, including letters and reports as needed.
• Prepare daily reports and plans for children with special needs.
• Prepare weekly/daily lesson plans and adjust as needed.
• Coordinate with head teacher and schedule parent conferences.
