Job summary

Norris Academy, part of Rite of Passage, in Andersonville, TN, seeks a Director of Special Education to lead a multidisciplinary team in a residential treatment setting for youth with autism and other neurodevelopmental diagnoses.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
• SPED Leadership is required.
• Valid Tennessee Principal License or eligibility preferred.
• Minimum of five years of educational experience, including supervisory roles.
• Experience with autism spectrum disorders or other special education populations is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervision for all educational staff.
• Ensure compliance with Tennessee regulations, IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and applicable laws.
• Oversee development and monitoring of IEPs.
• Foster a positive school culture and student engagement.
• Coach and evaluate staff through observations and PD.
• Collaborate with clinical and residential teams to support student care and educational success.
• Maintain thorough educational documentation and reporting.
• Participate in licensing reviews and accreditation processes.
• Recruit, onboard, and develop staff; adapt to operational needs.
