Job summary

RHA Health Services is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for full-time work in York. The DSP will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and mental health or substance use challenges, delivering person-centered services in home and community settings.

The role emphasizes understanding each person’s background, goals, and preferences, working under supervision to empower and enable meaningful daily living outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must meet all pre-employment screening.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the person(s) receiving services in identifying and communicating requests for services and support.
• Promote and support a healthy lifestyle by educating on wellness practices and implementing strategies to prevent illness and accidents.
• Foster self-advocacy and encourage individual choice and decision-making aligned with personal goals.
• Accompany and support individuals in community activities to promote social engagement.
• Teach and support the development of independent living skills and daily living activities.
