Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present cases for prosecuting criminals, including misdemeanor and felony matters.
• Review investigation and arrest reports, file charges, affidavits, and arrest warrants.
• Handle juvenile cases when assigned, including petitions and motions.
• Prepare for hearings and trials, interview witnesses, and develop strategy.
• Conduct pretrial discovery and negotiate plea agreements with defense attorneys.
• Coordinate with Carmel City Court when assigned and liaise with city attorney on applicable cases.
• Provide consultation to law enforcement and coordinate with various agencies.
• Represent State in hearings and trials with opening/closing statements and objections.
• Prepare orders and supervise support personnel as needed.
• Investigate and pursue post-conviction relief petitions and related proceedings.
• May present seminars for community groups and maintain case statistics.
