Job summary

Georgia State University seeks a Data Governance Specialist to support the development, implementation, and operation of the university's data governance program. The role coordinates data stewardship activities and maintains data dictionaries, business glossaries, metadata, and the institutional data catalog.

The position works with data stewards, system owners, and stakeholders across the university and is based at the downtown Atlanta campus, in-office five days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience.
• Ability to coordinate data governance activities with stakeholders and data stewards.
• Familiarity with metadata management and data cataloging.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a point of contact for data governance requests with data stewards, system owners, and stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain data governance artifacts: data dictionaries, business glossaries, metadata, and the institutional data catalog.
• Coordinate data stewardship activities, onboarding, and working group facilitation.
• Support the development, review, and maintenance of data governance policies and standards.
• Facilitate governance committees with scheduling, agendas, and action item tracking.
• Conduct data quality assessments and support remediation with data stewards and owners.
• Maintain the systems inventory, business capability mapping, and data models.
• Create communications, training, and change management materials to advance data literacy.
• Represent OIE in cross-functional data initiatives and contribute to university-wide data community.
