Job summary

Wilson Language Training Corporation seeks a Curriculum Developer for Core ELA — Grades K–2 on a contract basis through December 31, 2027. You will help build text sets, design instruction, and ensure alignment with Fundations while collaborating with Specialists, Grades 3–5, and design teams.

The role focuses on creating knowledge-rich content, writing tasks, and assessments, with an emphasis on accessibility, representation, and multilingual differentiation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of K–2 classroom, intervention, literacy coaching, or school library experience.
• 3+ years developing ELA core or writing curriculum for publication.
• Experience building text sets or knowledge-building units around read-aloud anchor texts.
• A portfolio of original texts written for young readers, incl. decodable or informational text.
• Deep knowledge of early literacy, including oral language, listening comprehension, vocabulary.
• Strong understanding of how foundational skills and knowledge building work together in K–2.
• Experience designing early-grade assessments and interpreting oral/written work.
• Knowledge of the science of reading and structured literacy.
• Knowledge of copyright and permissions process.
• Clear writing for teachers.

Responsibilities

• Research and recommend read-aloud anchor texts, picture books, and supporting texts for each unit's knowledge topic and culminating task.
• Source non-text elements (photographs, art, maps, diagrams, video, audio) to build knowledge.
• Evaluate read-aloud texts for quality, accuracy, and complexity for student use.
• Review texts for representation, bias, and fit with criteria.
• Sequence text sets so knowledge and vocabulary build across read-alouds and units.
• Write original texts to spec, including decodable texts tied to Fundations.
• Support work with freelance authors, drafting briefs and editing for accuracy.
• Keep text set records and coordinate with permissions for clearances.
• Design unit structures from read-aloud to culminating tasks with gradual release.
• Write interactive read-aloud lessons and vocabulary instruction.
• Develop early writing instruction integrating Fundations handwriting and spelling.
• Plan text-dependent questions and discussions tied to knowledge goals.
• Develop age-appropriate assessments and progress checks.
• Plan differentiation and scaffolds for multilingual learners.
• Contribute to reading comprehension design with the Writing Systems team.
