Job summary

Mount Rogers Community Services seeks a licensed or license-eligible CSU counselor to provide individual and group counseling for adults, develop intervention plans, and coordinate case management and housing referrals.

The role involves acting as team lead as needed, representing CSU in court, and supporting discharge planning and crisis services. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential, with knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Human Services or related field and license or license-eligible.
• Knowledge of mental illness/substance abuse symptomology and experience with this population.
• QMHP registration requirements per Board of Health Professions.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to adults in the Crisis Stabilization Unit.
• Develop and implement intervention strategies using certified needs assessment tools.
• Provide case management and referrals; assist with housing and long-term treatment access.
• Act as team lead in the absence of the program manager and assist with insurance authorizations.
• Represent CSU in court proceedings for TDO hearings; coordinate referrals and bed utilization.
• Participate in supervision, staffing, and committee meetings; provide clinical guidance to staff.
• Assist with discharge planning, including coordination of crisis services and follow-up.
• Provide crisis intervention and emergency case management as needed.
• Maintain strong oral and written communication skills.
• Understand mental health, substance abuse, and ID symptomology.
• Know treatment modalities and case management approaches.
• Apply crisis intervention strategies and procedures.
• Lead individual and group counseling sessions and promote recovery.
• Maintain confidentiality per guidelines.
• Demonstrate basic computer skills.
