Job summary

NaphCare is seeking a PRN Qualified Mental Health Professional to join our team at the San Diego County Jail in San Diego, CA. You will provide mental health services, including assessments, treatments, and support to residents, while collaborating with correctional officers and medical staff.

This position emphasizes crisis intervention, treatment planning, and connecting inmates with community resources as they transition back into the community.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in mental health with active CA licensure.

• Experience with jail populations preferred.

Responsibilities

Overview

NaphCare is hiring a PRN Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional to join our team of medical professionals at the San Diego County Jail located in San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this position is $45.90+

As a Correctional Mental Health Professional, you will provide mental health services, including assessments, treatments, and support to the facility residents, while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex mental health needs.

Responsibilities

The Mental Health Professional, is responsible for providing performing and documenting mental health evaluations, developing treatment plans, and monitoring progress notes. Additional responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

Providing individual and group therapy, including specialized groups like substance abuse or sex offender therapy
• Intervening in crisis situations, including suicide prevention and emergent mental health needs
• notes
• Participating in educational and training activities related to mental health care for patients, security personnel, and healthcare staff
• Collaborating with other professionals, such as medical staff, correctional officers, and social workers, to provide holistic care
• Preparing inmates for release by connecting them with community resources and support services

Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications

• Master's prepared licensed Mental Health Professional with active, unrestricted licensure independently licensed (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC) in CA
• Must possess and be able to maintain BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; AHA or American Red Cross, REQUIRED

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills

• Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders
• Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals, correctional staff and judges
• Demonstrate knowledge of DSM-V / DSM-V-TR criteria
• Ability to interpret and analyze data to create treatment plans
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
• Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
