Job summary

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is seeking a physician to join the Correctional Health Services team at the Pinellas County Jail. You will diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health conditions for inmates, order tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans.

As a clinical resource, you will collaborate with medical and mental health staff, help improve healthcare programs, and ensure high standards of safety and continuity of care in a fast-paced correctional setting.

Qualifications

• Doctoral Degree (MD or DO).
• Florida Medical License with board certification in Internal Medicine and/or Family Practice.
• DEA Certification and CPR‑BLS or ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Document all services in EMR and ensure visits/appointments are properly scheduled.
• Review and countersign electronic orders, diagnostics, and medication orders.
• Perform inmate health exams and provide medical treatment and referrals as needed.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and updating health care policies and training materials.
• Counsel inmates on hygiene, disease management, preventive care, and health education.
