Job summary

The NAACP Office of the General Counsel seeks a Civil Rights Litigation Fellow to join the organization’s Legal Department in Washington, DC for a year-long fellowship. The Fellow will engage in affirmative civil rights litigation and advocacy across voting rights, criminal justice, economic justice, employment, fair housing, and equal educational opportunity.

The fellowship is externally funded; applicants must secure outside funding to cover salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Recent graduate with a demonstrated commitment to racial justice.
• Strong written, verbal, research, and analytical skills.
• Willingness to develop affirmative civil rights litigation, including researching potential theories, and building factual records.

Responsibilities

• Engage in affirmative civil rights litigation across voting rights, criminal justice, economic justice, employment, fair housing, and equal educational opportunity.
• Collaborate with other NAACP professionals to build factual records and advance advocacy.
