The CDI Specialist at University of Southern California Keck Medicine is responsible for reviewing medical records to improve the specificity of physicians' documentation and accurately reflect severity of illness.

You will interact with physicians, HIM staff and nursing to educate and implement query structures, respond to coding denials with justification, and stay current on Medicare, ICD-10, CPT guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate from nursing, BSN, RHIT, RHIA or foreign medical doctorate preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10 CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS guidelines.
• Three years’ experience in clinical disciplines or utilization review in acute care.

Responsabilités

• Assist and develop tracking mechanisms to demonstrate program impact.
• Assist in development plans for education for physicians, nursing, and clinical staff.
• Meet productivity targets for record review and query placement.
• Improve clinical documentation quality to meet regulatory requirements.
